In this month's ELLE Preview, we interviewed On the Road star Garrett Hedlund.
The 28 year old actor was thoughtful and charming and also quite chatty so we've saved some extras from the interview just for you....
How was the atmosphere on set with your On the Road co-stars Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst and Sam Riley?
The cast was an extended family. We couldn’t stop laughing. Every night Sam and I had a drink and talked about the day, for six months. We kept each other standing.
You got together with Kirsten Dunst on set. Did you ever think you’d be one half of a famous couple?
It wasn’t so much a surprise as a blessing!
What do you look for in a script?
Surprise, I think. To feel something I didn’t expect to think - 50% excitement and 50% fear – that’s the best place to be. If you’re just excited you could be let down.
So do you reckon it pays to be fussy in the acting game?
[Laughs] It doesn’t pay in cash but it pays a great deal in your soul. Everybody wants to hold onto their true self.
